Person notes, and why they never leave your phone
Everything you record about someone stays in your pocket and your iCloud. Here is exactly how that works.
Person notes are where Torte earns its keep. The favourite flower, the book they mentioned, the name of their new dog — small details that make a message feel like it came from someone paying attention.
That kind of detail deserves care, so we made a simple decision early on: your notes are yours, and they stay on your devices.
Where your notes live
Notes are stored on your iPhone and synced through your own iCloud account. We do not run a server that holds them, and we cannot read them. If you delete the app and your iCloud data, they are gone.
What that means in practice
- No profile of your friends sitting on someone else's server.
- Sync across your devices through iCloud, the same way your photos and contacts do.
We think a birthday app should be the most trustworthy thing on your phone. Keeping notes local is how we try to live up to that.
